Mr Kenneth Cassar
The Year 8 and Year 9 students were engaged in creative and artistic projects during art week. Here’s a breakdown of what each group did:
Year 8 Students:
Character Design: Year 8 students began by designing characters of their choice using basic shapes such as squares, stars, rectangles, and circles on paper. Examples of characters included Spongebob, a snowman, a car or truck, and a submarine.
Outlining: After conceptualizing their characters, students created the outlines on paper. This involved sketching and refining the character’s shape and features.
Coloring and Shading: Once the outlines were complete, students applied color and shading to their characters. This step added detail and depth to their creations, making them more visually appealing.
Digitalization: Each student’s character was drawn using the Synfig Application. This is a digital animation software.
Animation: With their characters on the computer, students then animated them. This involved adding movement and life to the characters, using the Synfig Application’s animation features.
Background: Finally, the animated characters were placed in a clipart background, which complemented the character’s theme or story.
Year 9 Students:
Video Creation: Year 9 students worked on creating videos using Windows Video Editor. This software allows for video editing and compilation.
Content Compilation: Students were provided with various short video clips and images. They selected and arrange these elements to form a cohesive video.
Video Effects: To enhance the visual appeal of their videos, students added effects, transitions, and other visual enhancements. This step made the video more engaging and professional-looking.
Text Descriptions: Text descriptions and captions were added to snippets of the video, to help convey information or context to the viewers.
Highlights: Highlights have been added to draw attention to specific parts of the video and emphasize certain moments.
Other Features: Students have incorporated additional features or elements to make their videos more interesting, such as music, sound effects, or voiceovers.
Both projects provided creative and educational experiences, allowing students to explore artistic expression and digital media production. They also provided opportunities for teamwork and the development of technical skills in digital art and video editing.
