Repository for Teacher Material

Dear colleagues,

The Malta Visual and Performing Arts School (MVPA) not only provides its students with the same academic subjects available in other Maltese state schools, but it also offers an enriched depth in areas such as Art, Dance, Drama, Media, and Music. Under the Erasmus+ project, specifically the initiative titled C.O.L.L.A.G.E.S. (Cross-curricular Optimisation: Linking Learners’ Artistic and General Education Synergistically), there was a deliberate effort to minimize the distinction between academic and artistic subjects. This approach serves to the advantage of both students and staff. In a move to further bridge this connection, the first Art Form Week was inaugurated in October 2022. During this event, academic subject teachers were encouraged to adapt their traditional teaching approaches. They were invited to dedicate at least one lesson to a creative integration of their usual syllabus with elements from the artistic subjects. This exercise allowed teachers to view their subjects under a new light, drawing inspiration from the artistic disciplines. Moreover, this initiative prompted educators to familiarize themselves with the content and methods of art form lessons, urging them to present their subjects in innovative, and perhaps surprising, ways. The outcome of this inaugural Art Form Week was beyond what anyone expected. To merely say that everyone was pleasantly surprised would be an understatement. Presented with these innovative challenges, both students and staff at the MVPA not only met expectations but far surpassed them. The energy, enthusiasm, and creativity displayed were palpable.

We hope to have this Art Form Week be a yearly event, one we can improve upon each time. In order to facilitate our lives, we are offering a space where those who wish may upload what they created and used this year so that it may be easy for themselves or others at the school to find. As you know, from one year to the other, we may get new classes and some staff may even leave and be replaced by new individuals, so we hope that this can be a way for us to grow our legacy together.

Firstly, it is up to each teacher to decide whether they wish to make their material available. Some teachers bought resources for their activities and may wish to keep them to themselves. Similarly, many of us made resources from scratch and this time investment needs to be protected. However, rest assured that whatever is shared will only be available to teachers at MVPA. The repository is stored on a channel on Teams, with this channel only be open to staff members of the MVPA. You have been added to this channel and may find it here:

Inside this channel, you must click the File option to see a set of Folders for each of the subjects currently taught at the MVPA (with a few folders for subjects that may some day be taught at the MVPA, as well).

Find the folder of your subject and you can upload your materials in there. It is strongly suggested that you make a subfolder for each specific name. Furthermore, name the folder accordingly, with a hint of what the lesson is about as well as which year it is intended for, and your name if you wish.
