The Malta Visual and Performing Arts school, within the St. Thomas More College, is the school where students are encouraged to shine. Above all, my staff, Senior leadership team and myself strive hard to provide a happy family for our students. We want the MVPA school to be their second home. Respect and tolerance is our major motto. This bond is the keystone of our school. Here we strive hard to see our students excel academically and to shine in their performances. The atmosphere is charged with the excitement of experimenting, discovering, creating and learning. Our main objective is to recognize each student’s individual needs, talents, capabilities and then to guide them to explore them and stretch them further. We want to make sure that the MVPA school gives its students a memorable lifelong learning experience.
Also, emerging from the world of the Performing arts, as the new head, and as an educational leader, my role is to ensure that the students are capable to perform/exhibit their work and to also be able to present their work to an audience . It is thus important for them to know how to bring their audiences in the palm of their hands and then to perform/exhibit. I must also make sure that academically they are at par with their performances, thus to make sure that they are being educated holistically. It is therefore a must to give them a strong educational, social, and cultural foundation to enable them to navigate through life successfully. This makes it the educators’ and my duty to provide a safe, nurturing learning environment filled with opportunities for each student to meet their unique potential, be challenged and learn according to their own pace and style. Every student has a talent, and it is our responsibility to find ways to make those talents not only emerge but stand out. Finally I want to guarantee to my students that at the end of their year 11 they will look back and be proud they have spent their secondary education at the Malta Visual and Performing Art School.
